Easier said than done
Put like that, it all sounds so simple. However, nothing could be further from the truth, because in order to attract the interest in the first place I needed to present them with a real glittering gem of a proposal, rather than just a carbon copy of one of the many typical proposals piled high in the rejects mountain.
The way I put the proposal together wasn’t so different to the norm. It mainly comprised of a brief cover letter, a short biography of myself, the actual proposal, and a short sample of the book.
Most other would-be authors send publishers the same kind of information. Even so, Pearson quickly cottoned onto the fact that my proposal was somewhat different, and I think the main reason for that was because it was clear that what I was saying was different, moreover I was also saying it in a different way to other CV books.
